Our Community

An important part of Wacoal's legacy is our relationship with Susan G. Komen for the Cure. In 1999, we officially began our fight against breast cancer by creating the Awareness Bra, which was designed to remind women about the importance of monthly self exams and early detection. Awareness has grown into a four bra collection that has enabled us to disseminate vital breast health information to millions of women and ultimately allowed us to make significant donations to Komen through our October Awareness campaign called Support the Girls.

In 2001, we launched Fit for the Cure® events as another way of educating women about breast cancer awareness and the advantages of a proper fitting bra. Women are invited to get a complimentary professional bra fitting by one of our Wacoal fit consultants at a local participating retailer. We are currently in our tenth year of Fit for the Cure® events. Wacoal donates $2 for every woman we fit at a Fit for the Cure® event. While no purchase is necessary, Wacoal will donate $2 for every Wacoal, b.tempt'd bra, or Wacoal shapewear piece sold at a Fit for the Cure® event. Currently, with our newer Fi(gh)t for the Cure theme, we invite women to help us knock out breast cancer at over 1,000 events per year. By year-end 2010, we will have fit more than 500,000 women at over 10,000 Fit for the Cure events.

Our commitment to date in this vital cause has resulted in the education of millions of women, and we hope we have helped save lives. Wacoal is proud to have donated more than 2.5 million dollars to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The money we raise through our Fit for the Cure® and Support the Girls programs helps to aid research and education programs.
